Curriculem Vitae - Neil Trinder

London College of Furniture:
Having studied furniture design and production at the London College of Furniture, Neil joined the college's recently developed furniture restoration course. Studying a range of crafts including carving, cabinet making, upholstery, woodfinishing, gilding and laquering, in addition to materials, science, technology and art history. He graduated in 1972 with a college diploma in furniture restoration and the 'City and Guilds Cabinet-Making Advanced', with Distinction.

Victoria & Albert museum:
For the next four years, Neil studied furniture conservation at the Victoria and Albert museum. A combination of hands on conservation of the museums furniture collection, academic study of conservation practice and short periods of experience in the various other departments including: prints and drawings, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, science and research.

Royal Household:
In 1976 Neil joined a small established team of conservators working in the royal household, and for the next 8 years was involved in major/extensive conservation projects on pieces by some of the finest cabinet makers in history, including: Andre Charles Boulle, Henri Riesener and David Roentgen. Neil developed a special interest in Boulle furniture during his 8 years at the Royal Household.

Sheffield Workshops :
In 1985 Neil setup a freelance conservation workshop in Sheffield and since that time his clients have included:

Chatsworth House
Harewood House
Various National Trust buildings (including: Uppark, Hardwick Hall)
Royal Palaces (Including: Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court Palace)
As well as an extensive range of museums, gallerys and private collectors.

Teaching:
Over the years Neil has taught short courses in Boullework restoration at:

Westdean College
Buckinghamshire College
Baseford Hall College - Nottingham

Training:
The Workshop Regularly accomodates Students from these and other collages throughout the country for periods of work experience.
